[ubuntu] USB Flash Drives not Mounting

http://ubuntuforums.org – Ubuntu is failing/refusing to mount any USB flash drives. I've tried a number of possible solutions from previous, similar threads to no avail. Since this has been going on a few weeks due to busy-ness, I've slightly lost track of what I have tried, but I can say that mounting it manually doesn't work and, though usb_storage was missing from /etc/modules, adding it has made no difference so far. Also worth mentioning: When I'm monitoring the system log in a terminal, it detects a drive being inserted and removed so Ubuntu isn't completely failing to see it. It shows up with the lsusb command (Hardware)

Since I am a big fan of linux mint's MATE desktop, I decided to use the MATE desktop environment on ubuntu. Now shortly after I discovered it, I had a problem with my USB flash drives.

I am trying to help out a friend with an odd issue. He has two external hard drives he was using as storage on a I-Mac. He had several terabytes of information on each drive, then one day the drives didn't show up on his mac.

Hi, I'm trying to mount my failing NTFS hard drive (now RAW) as read-only so I can image or clone it with ddrescue. When I try to use ddrescue it does nothing and reports 0 bytes rescued.

I have followed a number of threads over the last 6-8 hours but I am unable to get my removable disk drive to mount (either automatically or via the terminal command line).

The processor is an AMD64 Athlon 3500+ and the DVD Drive is a TSSTCorp CD/DVDW TS-H552D HP06.

I have tried to reinstall Ubuntu, but because the drive doesnt mount on system boot, I cannot approach it from this angle either!

I am using Ubuntu 12.04 LTS. My hard drives usually comes as: sda, with 'sudo blkid' and if I plug-in any USB drive, they comes as: sdb, sdc etc; after sda. That's fine!!!

But problem arises after I restart my laptop with connecting those USB drives. They alter and comes first and hard drive goes to the end, like: 'sudo blkid' shows, sda, sdb for USB drives and sdc for hard drives.

Hello all, first of all I am running 13.04, and having trouble mounting disks at startup.

I did "Automatically-Mount-Drives" as described here,

Now all drives are mounting up in Guest account too! This is not at all intended!,

Guest Account has lost its meaning.

How do I change the settings so that my drives are not mounted for guests?

Hi all,I've installed ubuntu 8.04 LTS (which I used to) on my dell xps m1330.I updated it to latest updates available.But then when I insert any usb flash it says cannot mount (see the picture bellow) :

It is available through lsusb and through manually mount. But I need it to be mounted automatically just when it is inserted.Thank you in advance.
