Allow to get straight to the point.
I have a new Toshiba StorE Alu 500GB harddrive which came formatted in NTFS. Ubuntu recognizes it (and I've already deleted some and moved to files that came with the hard drive). So I suspect everything' s fine. But I don't know if I should format it to Ext2/3/4 or Brtfs. It will only be used as backup of data.
I have a drive with ext3 that was my old /home drive.
When I moved to 9.04 I went with ext4 and just linked to my old home drive.
My old ext3 drive is becoming unstable so I want to back it up.
I have a 500gb ata drive (unfortunately not a sata drive) that Im going
to wipe and put 10.04 on.
Hi, so I installed Win 7 on one of my machines to try it out. I was preparing to move some movies and music off my external backup when I realized it's formatted in ext 4 because all my other PCs are running Ubuntu.
Hello All,
I am currently running elementary OS (a Linux OS based on Ubuntu so everything in Ubuntu works in it) - dual booting it with Windows 8.
I have a 3TB external hard drive (USB 3.0) that does not seem to be recognized when I plug it in.
It works fine under Windows (both 7 and 8).
It is using a GPT partition table and is formatted as NTFS.
When I plug it in, the light flashes on the drive but it do
