I'm running 12.94 on an older Compaq laptop.
There's a file in Update Manager listed under "Other updates" and it reads: "Apply a diff file to an original" and the name of the file is "patch."
Because of this "other" update, Update Manager will not allow any of the other files to be updated.

I'm re-posting his thread since the thread that contains a question similar to mine has been marked as solved. I just recently installed Xubuntu PPC on my iMac 800 G4 . . . got "sudo" back working last night, so I ran "sudo update/upgrade/dist-upgrade" . . . and the Console came back with one package to upgrade, but three "held back" . . .

I'm trying to set up nginx with PHP5 and MySQL on my production VPS. The reason I chose nginx over Apache was because the VPS isn't high spec.
nginx is installed, and is successfully serving static pages like it should.
Hey, as always i am trying to update to the newest version by opening the update-manager and go into the options to select "for any new version". After checking for updates nothing happens. There are no packets or distribution upgrades.
How can i upgrade using apt-get or update-manager?

I installed 12.04 recently and all went well and now I see a problem with the update manager.
Please see attached png - it says "Not all updates can be installed" and recommends a partial upgrade
Why am I encountering this so soon after a fresh install, please help

Hi, This morning I had a pop up box on my computer from "HP Upgrade Manager" which said: "Latest version of HPLIP 3.12.9 is available" and asking if I want it installed.
I'm running on Lucid 10.04 LTS.
At the moment my Update Manager is holding a very long list of security updates.
A window opened and gave me a Warning some of the packages are "not authenticate" so.... I am.....:confused:
How come there are so many ( 823.8 MB) updates?
How do I know which security update to allow Update Manager to install?
Any advise is appreciated because I don't understand.
