I am more or less a complete Linux noob, and using 12.04 for the first time. Everything works great, and I am very happy, but there is one exception: suspend won't resume. Every time I suspend my computer, (whether by clicking suspend or by closing the lid) it goes to a black screen (with the backlight on) but there is no way to wake it up.
I can move my mouse around, see wall paper and top panel or switch to ctrl-alt-F1.
But I cannot click anything nor do any key combination work.
What should I do beside restart lightdm?
I chose to suspend because I don't want to lose my data. If I have to restart lightdm every time resume from suspend, I'd rather shutdown my computer.
how can i get normal suspend functionality back?
I've been able to find all sorts of things about stopping Bluetooth coming on after suspend, but I have the opposite problem.
When I open my laptop, I have to manually switch on the Bluetooth before my mouse will connect. Is there a way to do this automatically?
Also, I had to install Blueman before I could get my Logitech Bluetooth mouse to work.
Sometimes when I close my laptop lib, it doesn't go into sleep mode. The wireless network is disconnected, but it seems to get stuck before turning off the screen, harddrive, etc. Clicking suspend from the menu then has no effect, I assume because it's already trying to suspend.
Hi there,
since a couple of weeks I'm using Linux Mint 13 cinnamon edition on my Acer Aspire 5610 Notebook.
After several tweaks it's running quite smooth.
Main issue I'm facing up is a bug in suspend mode: Trying to resume fails frequently.
I figured out that my Bluetooth stack is responsible for this behaviour.
BTW Kernel 3.4 & 3.5 do not show this bug.
So I was trying to add a sleep.d scrip
I am having two issues with suspend and resume.
My system is able to resume from suspend only after I've let it hibernate:scratch:.
When I do a fresh boot and suspend the system just after the desktop started, resuming will result in a black screen and I had to power off the computer (see pm-suspend-kde-fail.log).
I installed the 12.10 yesterday and like 12.04 there was no sound, I have an ACER 4830 TG.
I noticed that the HDMI output is working fine , But Speaker or Headphone isnt working.
So i did the following:
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:ubuntu-audio-dev
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get dist-upgrade
And still couldn't get the sound .
Since switching to Karmic, suspend and hibernate are not working consistently on my Toshiba Satellite. I have it set to hibernate when I close the lid, but doing so only turns off the screen. The suspend and hibernate keys on my keyboard also no longer work. When I select these options from the menu, the computer will suspend or hibernate properly.
