[ubuntu] Unknown sensor chip SMSC ID 0x4501

http://ubuntuforums.org – I have a laptop (HP 5310m) released around 2010 and there appears to be no support for the fan/temp sensor chipset. When I run sensors-detect it comes up with an unknown chip with ID 0x4501. Does anyone know what this chip is? If so, is there a module driver being written for it? I'm using Ubuntu 12.04 LTS. I'm not sure if it is the CPU (i7) fan or the video card fan.

I've tried using lm-sensors & fancontrol

sudo sensors-detect

I want to display the sensors info for my new built. Asrock 970 Extrem4, FX-8120, Ubuntu 12.04.

I installed Hardware Sensors Indicator 0.2 with Indicator Applet 0.50 Psensor 0.6.2.16 lm-sensors (I run them separately)

CLI lm-sensors install has been done with the commands

Hi all,

OS: Karmic 64 Bit

I am trying to setup lm-sensors on my pc. It is working (of sorts) and I am getting readings, however I am unable to get the "_min" and "_max" settings in /etc/sensors3.conf to work.

my /etc/default/sensors looks like this (Removed comment lines):

New to Linux and having minor issues :/ . I followed this guide initially but did not recieve the proper output and did not show my ATI Radeon HD 5000 temp or fan speed. Then used this guide, same problems exhibited. No issues installing and no errors. I think its not reading i2c for some reason. The proprietary driver is installed and functioning correctly according fglrxinfo.

I REALLY would like to get lm-sensors working on this machine.

It is an "Abit AL8" motherboard and has the uGuru thingy. I have 4 fans and would really like to know what they are actually doing. The BIOS reads them just fine.
