[ubuntu] Unity Pulldown Corrupted by News Applet

http://ubuntuforums.org – Anybody know why it seems some type of news plugin has invaded my Unity pulldown menus rendering them and whatever application they overlay virtually useless? Accessing any of the pulldown menus regardless of what application is focused, displays a horribly rendered background containing a stupid, scrolling video news feed that makes the menu become barely readable and basically useless as well any portion of the display it overlays. I did not recently install anything except regularly offered updates or make any configuration changes in the system, display manager or any other applicati (Hardware)

hi guyz, i'm developing my own website, when creating news, i'm having this problem, i can't show news by id, i mean i have 5 news item in my db and they are stored by id 1,2,3,4,5... but when it comes to display the news they all display as a block, even when i browse it by id like: localhost/news/news.php?id=3, it shows all the news items, instead of third news??

I'm building a phonegap app, that will display let's say about 30-40 latest Facebook and twitter posts from a specific user (an organization).

Recently the option to choose the capital when I hold down on the letter button has disappeared. All the other options are still available, but the capital is not an option. This is very frustrating.

I just ran updates from the manager. After getting a lot of error messages while in that process, everything took and now my system boots as quick and as clean as it ever has. So that's nice.

What's not nice is that once everything boots, I've got no way to navigate anywhere as my Unity menus are gone. The top taskbar as well as the sidebar.

I started using Lubuntu (12.04) and I like the customizations that I was able to make, especially fitting icons and themes ('Widgets' - as 'Customize Look and Feel' calls them.)

But for some reason about a half of the themes make my menus display a pale font on a whitish background - and look unclear.

With most programs, context (right-click) menus and other menus have a shadow under them to indicate that they're separate from the rest of the program. This makes them easy to read. In LibreOffice, however, menus don't have shadows, and the top menu (file/edit/view, etc) is still in the program window itself, instead of in the global menu. How can I fix these problems?
