http://ubuntuforums.org – Hi Folks, I believe I'm running ubuntu 12.04, with the Unity window manager/desktop. My system has been working fine for months. This afternoon, I clicked on the System Settings icon in the bar on the left of the screen. (It's not labelled, so I can never remember what Unity calls that bar.) I think I then selected "appearance". I did not change anything. Almost immediately after that a number of icons disappeared from the bar - I can still hover and get their names, or click on them, but there's no icon. Several screens have changed from purple to blue. That wouldn't bug me - it (Hardware)

Icons gone from Unity 3D 40 weeks 5 days ago

All my icons har gone from Unity 3D, but present in Unity 2D. The icon for the Dash is also gone. All icons are present IN the dash, but when I add them to Unity the icon is suddenly invisble.

Everything works in Unity 2D.

The Unity LauncherIf you have used Unity in Ubuntu 11.04, you would have noticed the large icons in the Unity launcher. The large icons are a good in larger screens since it makes it easier for the cursor to target it. But on smaller screens, like on netbooks, it could be too large and get in the way.

I have Ubuntu 12.04 64 bit installed on my laptop along with dual-boot Windows 7 HP.

Hey folks, I have a system with three screens running Ubuntu 11.10 86_64. Those screens are located next to each other and the X-Server is configured with Xinerama. The screen in the middle is the main screen and all desktop-icons are located on the left one by default (files, links, ...). If I want to move one of these icons to another screen, I try to drag and drop those.

With Linux, it is easy to customize many settings and features including appearance. Unity (one of many desktop interfaces) is no exception. Unity is the desktop interface that is maintained and developed by Canonical. Canonical uses Unity as the default interface for their popular operating system - Ubuntu.

[ubuntu] Trash Icon Gone... 30 weeks 5 days ago

Sorry guys if its a repost.

I am new to Ubuntu, using Ubuntu 12.04. What happened is that i right clicked the trash icon, clicked the icon and changed it to some icon i downloaded from internet. After changing it, i realized that i does not work properly. I since yday, i have been trying to change it back to the default icon. I deleted the downloaded icon and now it shows just a white icon.

I recently got the great ROSA icon theme from the ROSA repo, I extracted the archive and put it into the .icons folder, under KDE I can select the icons no problem, but under unity using gnome tweak tool they can't be selected (nor in ubuntu tweak) so I assume that there needs to be further steps in order to use a KDE icon theme in the unity/gnome desktop?

Any ideas?

I'm looking for a way to make my desktop icons (Unity launchbar) smaller. I installed ccsm and then tried Alt/F2 and entered "about config". However, when I enter "about config", a purple Unity icon comes up, but when I click on it, nothing happens.
