I'm a new user to Ubuntu. While I haven't had many issues with the OS since I've installed it, I have had one odd problem. Whenever I shut my computer down and later turn it back on, the power button lights up and the machine appears to be on but nothing happens, my screen shows no signal. I've been having to hard boot it off and then turn it back on again to get my computer to actually work.
So, I have been running Ubuntu for about a month now. I chose to encrypt when I installed, so I am prompted for the password I set when I boot.
Downloaded the BIOS update and installed it on windows,
it got through installing and restarted the computer, it auto loads into ubuntu so it just sat there and did nothing because the mouse and keyboard wouldn't work.
Hello.
I'm using Ubuntu 12.04 and it works perfectly except when i suspend the computer.
If I return from suspended within a small amount of time say an hour it works just it is supposed to goes back to Ubuntu.
But if i wait longer than an hour the power led just blinks once and the computer turns off.
I've been using Hardy Heron for a few months on a third-hand Compaq Presario S3200NX with the original monitor with few problems. I was recently given a new-to-me flatscreen (Gateway 900W, mfg June 2006) for use instead and attempted to install it with no luck.
Here's what I've managed to see on the monitor:
Monitor on, computer off: black screen, orange power button
Hi,
I am running Fedora 17 on a Fujitsu Siemens Amilo li1718 laptop with Radeon Xpress 200m graphics card. When trying to resume after suspend I just get a blank screen. Also the wireless light goes out. No buttons work. I have to hold the power button to force the computer to turn off, then reboot.
I have a computer with windows 7, windows xp, and ubuntu. The problem is I can't boot xp. Whenever I try, I get a black screen. I would like to be able to boot from xp, 7, or ubuntu from grub
Here is what I have done:
1) Installed XP
2) Used gparted to shrink xp partition and installed ubuntu
3) Used gparted to shirnk xp partition and installed windows 7
As I have mentioned the school MinecraftEDU server before, now I need to disable the power button. The computer is in a place where many kids are a lot, so we need the power button disabled so nobody can turn off the computer. I tried just unplugging the power button, and it didn't like me for doing so. All the fans sped up and the hardware went a bit nuts.
I got my Tab 2 today, and after using it for about 2 hours total and it blinked off. At first I thought that it was just the powersave function, but it won't turn on.
