Hi guys, I'm dualbooting win7 an Ubuntu 11.10. Sometimes Ubuntu will boot good, and I can use it etc. sometimes it drops to busybox . It'll load grub, ask Ubuntu or win7 then when I hit Ubuntu it either goes to a purple screen(normal) or black with blinking white cursor.
Hello all,
I downloaded Ubuntu 12.04.1 64-bit and used unetbootin to try to make a bootable usb.
So, I plug it in, turn my computer on, select to boot from usb, and then I get a black screen with the following white text on it:
Quote:
BusyBox v1.18.5 (Ubuntu 1:1.18.5-1ubuntu5) built-in shell (ash)
Enter 'help' for a list of built-in commands.
(initramfs)
I am having ubuntu 12.04 LTS installation alongside Windows 7.
I've had Ubuntu for a while and it'd been working fine till now. Every time i try to boot I get this message and I can not go any further:
BusyBox v1.17.1 (Ubuntu 1:1.17.1-10ubuntu1) built-in shell (ash)
Enter 'help' for a list of built-in commands
(initramfs)
My main worry are my files and pictures as I don't have a back-up (dumb, I know)
Any advice would be very much appreciated!
Thanks x
I've installed yesterday Ubuntu 12.10 32-bit version (as recommended) on my laptop. It was a fresh install, alongside Windows XP. On grub, after choosing normal boot on ubuntu, it starts loading things, but before starting the Ubuntu loading screen (with the dots) it stops flashing HDD activity led, and hangs there, and I need to hard shutdown the laptop.
I installed Ubuntu with the Windows installer and put in a drive.
Now click on Ubuntu and I'm coming from the boot options to get to the falls would start normal and Open safe mode.
Completely black page in the first option and the option of a graphical black screen comes again
Normal recovery falls and falls. Click on each one that I got a black screen
I am trying to install ubuntu studio 12.10 64bit from a memory stick. Currently the computer is running ubuntu server 12.04 LTS 64bit. I want to completely erase the server OS and replace it with ubuntu studio.
I installed Ubuntu using WUBI, windows installer.
It asked me to boot and while booting, it offered me to start using Ubuntu. I chose Ubuntu and a screen came saying I can go to options menu using Esc, if I entered Esc, it asks me which mode I'd like. I entered demo mode.
I downloaded 12.04.1 and md5 sum checked them and everything is good.
