Hi everyone,
I bought a dell laptop inspiron n5050 with pre-installed ubuntu.
I tried to installed windows 7. I succeeded in installing windows 7 on this laptop but the problem I could not start the windows properly. Every time when I booted the windows, it shows following message (thumbnail 1) and restarts again.
I installed windows XP in it and it works properly.
I have had Ubuntu 12.10. 64-bit (this is my first dive into the OS) for less than two hours... and already am able to update the system on my old Dell Inspiron 1520, but alas, finding the drivers for this laptop is a chore.
Hi,
I just installed OpenSUSE 11.2 64 bit on my new Dell Studio 1557 laptop (with i7), which has a Dell 1520 wireless card.
I checked Dell's site, they only have Windows drivers.
So how can I get appropriate driver for Linux ?
There is that comment regarding wireless on Dell Studio:

Hey guys, I've just got a new Dell Inspiron I14-2530p with native Windows 8, and decided to install Ubuntu for a dual boot.
I had to change the bios settings to Legacy instead of UEFI Secure Boot (I don't know very well what that means, but was the only way I found to boot from the CD-ROM). I've used an old live CD I had for Ubuntu 9.10.
The booting went fine, and so did the installation.
I had recently bought a Dell Inspiron 7520 laptop , Which was pre-loaded with windows 8. I wanted to set up dual boot with Ubuntu 12.10 . I am following issues . Any help will be really appreciated .

When i started installing my installer could not recognise any other windows 8 or any other OS installed. When i moved to advanced partition tool, i could see my free space, my windows partitions. But i did not proceed. can anyone help.
First of all, I am not a geek and I am totally new to Linux.
I want to try Ubuntu 12.04.1 LTS on my Dell Inspiron 15R laptop. So I want to know whether the hardware of the laptop is compatible with Ubuntu and they'll just work with Ubuntu as fine as they work with Windows 7. Following are my hardware specs as I found. Can any one tell me, will they work fine and the machine will run smoothly?
Hi, I am new to Ubuntu and I would like to give Ubuntu 12.10 a try on my laptop. I am using an Acer Aspire 4530 laptop with the following specs:
AMD Turion X2 Dual Core processor 2.10GHz
3GB RAM
NVidia GeForce 9100MG GPU
I am thinking of replacing my current Windows Vista OS(32-bit) with Ubuntu, so will it slow down my laptop?
