If I chose to boot in recovery mode, the screen comes out garbled. Black mostly, with some white noise at the top (which I think is a console, mangled beyond recognition) and a purple rectangle to the left.
So I have an elderly Dell optiplex 320 running 13.04 that I've been using as a jukebox at my bar. It's not connected to the internet so it hasn't been updating for the last few months and I decided to give it an update today.
Unfortunately It asked for my user account password, which I've since forgotten.
I recently installed 64 bit Ubuntu 12.04.1 LTS on my Inspiron 1720 laptop as a dual boot with Windows 7. When I boot up Ubuntu, it gets to the log in screen just fine but after logging in it gets stuck with the default desktop background display only. I can move the curser around but i can't get any response from it.
I am using Ubuntu x64 11.10 in my HP pavilion g6-1037tx notebook.
Everything was working fine with VGA mode as it didn't recognize my Radeon 6470 HD graphics card.
Then, I downloaded radeon driver 11.12 from their website and installed it.
Some time ago I could use key combnations to boot into stock recovery mode Then I installed thf cwm and I managed to boot into cwm.
But when I updated my phone to JB 4.1.2 by means of KDZ it became impossible to boot into recovery mode.
I tried all the possible key combinations but in vain.
