I have a Dell Vostro 1500. Before I wiped Windows XP off my hard drive in 2009, I had a full ~7 hrs battery capacity. I installed Ubuntu 9, and the capacity immediately dropped to about 11%. I couldn't figure out what to do, so I've just lived with the 20-30 minute battery life ever since.
I upgraded to Ubuntu 10, and the issue remained.
i've been using ubuntu 12.04 for a few weeks now and there are some things i have noticed. Im running ubuntu on a dell n5010 (15R), with 3gb ram, intel core i3, intel hd graphics and ubuntu 64x bit. My battery drains too fast, last less than an hour, while in windows used to last 3:30. I also noticed that the battery capacity decreased in a week from 78% to 74%.

I have Dell Vostro 3560 with intel 2230 wifi.
I have problem with connection when i am working on battery, on ac everything is ok.
When i use notebook on battery, ping to my gateway rises to 500-800ms. When i plug in ac power, ping is 1-2 ms. I try load module with 11n_disable=1 or bt_coex_active=N, but that didn't work.

I have installed Ubuntu 12.04 LTS as dual boot in my ACER ASPIRE 5745G laptop which has a WIN 7 Home Prem preinstalled in C: I have installed it from Windows 7 by using a Windows installer from the official Ubuntu download site.
I have Windows 8 installed. My processor is an Intel Core2 Duo. I bought an Ubuntu 12.10 CD from Amazon just to make the install easy and repeatable. But when I tried to install it booting up from the CD, it gave me options of installing from two different images, either UBUNTU-12.10-DESKTOP-I386.ISO or UBUNTU-12.10-DESKTOP-AMD64.ISO.
I am using ubuntu 11.10 in vaio vpceb24en with windows7. I am getting battery back up of 1 hour 30 minutes only when i am using ubuntu. but i am getting a battery backup of 3 hours when i am using windows7. so please reply me to solve this problem..
I've been having a battery issue of sorts, and this seemed like the best place to ask for help. About 2 months ago, I bought a 12000 mAh high capacity battery for my EeePC from an Amazon vendor. At first it seemed like it was having issues with shutting off with a good charge left (like 40%), but then the problem seemed to go away.
I really like Ubuntu, and I want to work with it always instead of windows. But the problem I find is that the battery runs out very fast (< 2 hours) when I use Ubuntu. It would have been great if I could get like 3 - 4 hours of battery life.
My windows provides me 4.5 - 5 hours.
