With my home network, I am using wireless router that is connected to the internet, my headless server, and three other computers wirelessly. My goal is to add a second source of internet to the network by adding a wireless adapter to the server. In this network, the regular computers can not be used since they can't always be on/stable/in range.
Hi, I'm a little new to linux and networking. I have a small server that I want to use as storage for my home network. I have a wireless router acting as a bridge that is getting wireless signal from our main router in the home and turns the signal into wired for my network. I have a 8 port switch hooked to the router which all my computers are connected to.
OS1: Ubuntu Server 12.04 (server)
OS2: Windows 7 (network computer)
I'm having a weird problem, and I'm not sure what to do about it. When I reboot the server, then try to SSH into it from another machine on the same network, I get a "connection refused" error.
The network was fine yesterday and as far as I know nothing has been changed or added. This morning some computers are connected to our domain but most of them are reporting limited connectivity. On checking our DHCP server we are getting this message.
Cannot find the DHCP Server:
The DHCP server you specified cannot be located.
I want to set up my own home work server, so that I and some other students can program, straight to the server so everyone can get the updated code, without having to fileshare it between each computer. But where should I Start?
Previously, I only had one machine on my home network with an ssh tunnel, so when i connected to my home network via ssh from another location, it would automatically connect to the right machine. i( set my router to redirect ssh requests to that computers LAN IP)
Now that I have multiple machines with ssh tunnels on my home network, the connection is refused.
hello i recently re-purposed an old desktop into a home server using ubuntu server 11.10.
i am able to connect to it through my windows vista pc which is connected to the network the server is connected to. now what i am trying to do is setup so that my friends and family (who are not connected to my network) can access my server and be able to watch/download my movie collection on said server.
So I will start with the fact I wasted the whole day trying to figure that out with no results...
I have a small local network behind a NAT router.
Here's my setup: I have a laptop that I roam around everywhere with, and I have a desktop computer at home that is connected to the web using a router with NAT.
My objective here is to create an SSH server which I can use for the purpose of file storage/access as well as using it as a proxy server.
