Hi.
I'm trying to set up a samba server on my DELL server but right after installing ubuntu server 64 bit, I get this error
error : out of disk
grub rescue>
Ubuntu server 12.04.1 x64 bit
While installing, I choose to use "the entire disk" without using LVM and pretty much using the default partition Ubuntu provided.
Installation from an UBUNTU 12.04 liveCD works almost well if I do a clean, automatic full erase install without preconfiguring partitions, but only until the very last moment when I get an error message saying that grub-install failed, and I must restart the PC without having a bootloader because none of the shown disk options for bootloader install works...
hi everyone,
I am having trouble with the wired connection... I have installed ubuntu 12.04 before. I used the pc with Win XP, now i removed the hard disk with win xp installed and replace it with another hard disk with ubuntu 12.04. The problem is that i cannot connect to the wired network. Always disconnected... I tried the solutions mentioned, but nothing works.
I run ubuntu server and use SSH to work on it. I've noticed that once in a while after a reboot, the server will ask for a disk check. I have to manually tell the system to run or ignore it.
Hi im trying to install ubuntu 12.04 with full hard disk encryption.
After downloading and installing the Ubuntu live CD, I learned that truecrypt doesnt support full disk encryption on linux.
I have an install disk by Sardu containing 4 OS.
When I boot up, regardless of whish OS I choose I get the error message
Unable to find a medium containing a live file system.
Is this referring to the install disk? Or to my HD.
Our ubuntu server has four hard disks, but we didn't make them a RAID. Yesterday, one of the disk was reported to be failing, and this disk was /dev/sdb and was mounted as /data (was used to store data), but the server cannot boot up after we remove this disk. We tried umount it or deleted it in the 'Disk ultility', but didn't work.
I have two laptops.
They are: Thinkpad T400 and ASUS eeePC 1015PX.
I would like to install Fedora F16 on USB disk - 500Gb and boot from this disk on both systems.
So the strange thing is:
I installed F16 on USB disk using Thinkpad. It works on TP, but does not boot on ASUS laptop. OK.
So having recently set up my server (including some disk space and ushare, and an additional laserjet printer) I was wondering if anyone had any experience of putting a multifunction printer into an ubuntu server and adding it locally (to the server) then to the networked computers....I know this printer works perfectly (the scan too!) when plugged directly into a machine's USB
