All right, this is driving me nuts.
I have an HP Color LaserJet cm1312nfi connected to the ethernet jack on a D-Link DPR-1260 wireless usb print server - so the print server acts as a wireless bridge. I can't get any Ubuntu box to print to the LaserJet. Windows XP and Vista laptops on the network print to it just fine.
I have Ubuntu Server running on a computer in the back room and a Mac as a client in the living room. Everything is working fine between the two. I can print, share files, everything that you would expect. Recently, I tried to set up CUPS and Avahi so that I can print from my iPad. To do this I have had to create another printer, which I called Airprint.
I installed a home network printer on my laptop, and could successfully print to it in evince. However, at work I use a remote CUPS server for printing. I added the CUPS server to the print settings of my machine, and the printer from my home network no longer appears there or in other print dialog boxes (such as Chromium).
Hi all,
I am trying to set up a print and file server for my home network using Ubuntu Server. The file server part of the task seems to working well. I can see the shared directories from my Macbook and my wife's Windows Laptop. I am stuck on the printer setup, though.
I have an HP Photosmart printer connected to the Ubuntu Server machine via USB cable.
Hi all,
I am working on a project where i would like to install a printing system that makes it possible to print over my network.
There are 4 printers spread over the entire network. These printers should only be approached through a print-server. (I use SAMBA and CUPS as print-server because i use windows and linux clients)
I've been working on setting up a print server for my home network, it works great! I can print just fine using lpr, and can print from LibreOffice, but cannot print from other KDE applications like Firefox. I went to add a new printer using system-config-printer-kde, but get an error (see attached screenshot for detail) about KCModule not providing an interface.
tried using virtualbox for print server. however the printing halts after 10-15 minutes. restart of guest OS is only solution in that situation.
now again trying CUPS. Can someone guide me?
Have installed CUPS and avahi-daemon on the server. The server is 64 bit ubuntu 12.04 lts with canon lbp 3300 and epson printer stylus photo 1390.
It has occurred to me that a workstation can connect to a printer in two ways:
1). Printing directly to the IP of the printer with the print driver installed locally.
2).
I have a Windows Server 2008 R2 print server set up hosting out multiple printers to my end users. I would like to change the naming convention for all of the printers hosted on the print server and want this change reflected on the client end.
For example: I have a HP4000 printer named "Cottage" on the print server.
