http://ubuntuforums.org – Hi, I just purchased a new Asus zenbook UX 32A and trying to install Ubuntu on the same. It has come preloaded with Windows 8. I tried to install 12.0.4 and 12.10 both using Windows installer but getting errors. It boots windows 8 but does not boot Ubuntu (on the dual boot screen). Appreciate if someone can point me to the instructions to do so. Thanks a lot. (Hardware)

I am trying to get ubuntu to dual boot with windows 8 on my notebook. Whenever I boot up, it goes directly to windows. The notebook is a lenovo z580 that came preloaded with windows 7. I did a clean install for windows 8.

Hi I bought an ASUS ZENBOOK UX32VD running windows 8 right out of kthe box. How can I dualboot this with Ubuntu? I've understood that it is different dualbooting a pc with Windows 8 than windows 7.

Is it something like WUBI for windows 8?

I am having some trouble installing Ubuntu 12.04 with the Windows installer. The instructions at http://www.ubuntu.com/download/help/install-ubuntu-with-windows say (in step 7) that I chose to boot with Ubuntu, but the black screen doesn't come up: it just goes straight to Windows. I've tried to boot it from a USB stick but it won't read it until Windows boots up.

I purchased a used machine, the seller had preloaded Windows XP pro on the computer, well you know the story, I got it home, plugged it into the internet and M$ started auto updating to SP 3 and I had no way to block it like I did with an XP blocking script as I did in the past with another Windows box.

Hello all,

I am new to Linux and Ubuntu and generally new to another OS than windows. But, I would like to dual boot Ubuntu on windows 7. I have downloaded the Ubuntu installer and I get the option to install Ubuntu alongside Windows 7. Will I get a choice everytime I start up my PC to what OS I want to boot in?
