i placed the hard disc as external to another pc and showed it up but i cant get into it.
I just built a new computer and am attempting to install ubuntu 64 bit on it. I am able to get to the purple try ubuntu/install ubuntu/check disc to defects/... screen, but nothing I have tried will get me past there.
I installed Ubuntu on a Dell Inspiron 1000 laptop.
All of a sudden it rattles, squeels in a high pitch (for a few seconds), and then rattles (all the time) and then squeels a few seconds (cycle continues).
System won't boot or even enter boot menu if I choose that. I am now trying to boot from live cd - if it will do that then I know it's the HD that's fried.
Hi. So I am not a first-time Linux user and I have dual-booted in the past. But today I wanted to install Ubuntu 12.04 alongside Windows 7, but when I restarted my computer with the Ubuntu live disc, it just went straight to Windows. I set the CD Drive to be the first to load on my BIOS already.
I want to install Ubuntu on my laptop - a Dell Vostro 1000. I think it has at least some malware, Trojan or virus. I don't want to keep the old operating system - Windows xp, in fact there is nothing that I on the hard disc that I want to keep. What is the best way for me to install Ubuntu 12.04.
Thanks
Couple of years back I was using Ubuntu installed within Windows 7 OS. Back then Ubuntu version was 10.04.
Today, I downloaded Ubuntu 64-bit Live Disc and when I try to install I do not understand how to install within Windows 7. So, any day later if I need to uninstall Ubuntu I can do by uninstalling via wubi.
Somehow I do not find those options now.
hi,
I am trying to install fedora core 13 (live) on a dell vostro 3500 laptop with the intell i5 processor. The boot process starts and then simply gets stuck after a while. Initially i thought that there might be some problem with either the image or the disk, and have ended up trying 4 different images (32 bit, 64 bit, kde version, gnome version) all with the same result.
Hey,
HI
I just received my new Dell XPS L702x today and managed to install 10.04 (lucid lynx) on it.
I managed to install the nvidia driver for the laptop, and the graphics works fine.
Unfortunately the sound and wifi does not work.
I would appropriate it very much someone can be of assistance in the matter or point me in some direction.
I really would like Ubuntu to run on the notebook.
Thank You i
