I have Ubuntu 12.04 installed on my Intel iMac. Except the keyboard everything is working fine out of the box. There is however one thing I like to be solved, that is strange startup behaviour. When I start the iMac Ubuntu will startup and failed to startup turn by turn.
Greetings! I want to try Linux, but when I boot into Ubuntu I always get a black screen. After my bios loads, I'm asked if I want to boot in Win 7 or Ubuntu. I choose Ubuntu, the screen flashes purple for a second, and then I'm stuck at the black screen. Any thoughts?
I'm using an AUSUS GTX 570 GPU with current drivers, and I'm trying to use the 64 bit version od Ubuntu.
I am having problems with my computer booting. I start the computer and it goes to initial boot sequence, however it remain on a black screen with a white dash blinking. It can go on for hours and ubuntu won't load up. I sometimes have to turn the computer on and off for 5 time before Ubuntu loads. I am using ubuntu 10.04 LTS desktop edition and 32 bit server.

I have Peppermint (based on Ubuntu) running of USB. Its bascially an ISO image that loads using Grub4Dos.
Problem is that I each time I load Ubuntu - and want to use i.e. teamviewer or Firefox...I have to install it on the running live system.
I have my TV connected to my computer (Ubuntu 9.10) through a s-video plug on my vga card. When I turn on my computer the bios and all that come up and so does grub and the splash screen...but as soon as X loads the monitor goes blank!
I've tried changing the resolution but nothing works. Any help here would be very appreciated.
Hello, I have created a liveUSB of Ubuntu 11.10. It works well on my home computer, after selecting Ubuntu in GRUB it loads on and runs. But, when I put the USB into school computer, it loads GRUB, then I choose ubuntu 11.10 and it starts loading. But, it does not boot into a graphical interface, with the login screen, but only gives me a terminal line on a black screen.
I just downloaded 12.04 burned it to a cd, and booted to into it on my last built computer. It loads a purple screen, then goes to a dos looking screen with a blinking cursor then loads the ubuntu loader. The lights go from red to white and finally they all turn red.
Hi guys I'm new here,
Anyway I have a problem. I had Ubuntu 12.10 running pretty efficiently for a while. I usually remove the crapware like the amazon stuff. However like 4 months ago after the update to a new kernel the system wasn't booting. It would hang on the ubuntu loading screen. I tried cleaning packages and restarting it in fail-safe graphics. This didn't help, but it got worse.
