I've got many softwares installed. But when the new version is released I'm not getting notified from the application that an update is available.
And I found that in most of Ubuntu applications the Update option is not available. I should wait for the next release for an updated version of the software.
My update manager does not find any updates. It does not crash or anything, but no update for my ubuntu, except for the PPAs. At first I thought there really was no update out there, but now it has been more than a month since my last update.
I have a problem. In the bar at the top of my screen, there is a little red triangle with an exclamation point in the middle. When I click it, it says:
"The update information is outdated. This may be caused by network problems or by a repository that is no longer available.
I got a System76 Lemur Ultra Thin (lemu4) with Ubuntu 12.10 64 bit and I added and I installed the Ubuntu Tweak 0.8.2 app.
I stumbled into some errors with some of the PPAs I have added (most notably Chrome, which I replaced with Chromium).
Hello fellow forum lurkers,
I am currently running Ubuntu 12.04 and I seem to be having problems updating and various other problems that my stem from the updating one (I'm not sure). So, I'm getting an error when I try to update, I use the Update Manager, get an error, so I go to the Terminal, update there, and get the same answer.
Ubuntu PPAs are great way to get latest versions of your favorite apps. However, on fresh installation of Ubuntu or when upgrading, you have to re-add these PPAs.
There are methods like copying your sources folder to new installation and changing the distribution string in source list.

According to the latest "ubuntu-meta" package update from the Ubuntu Quantal Quetzal repositories, Unity 2D will no longer be installed by default in Ubuntu 12.10, and Unity 2D users are being transitioned to the Unity 3D session, just like it was discussed at UDS-Q.

I'm trying to install f.lux on my Xubuntu 12.10 Quantal alpha laptop, so I added the repository as described here:
However, when I do apt-get update, it fails with this message:
Failed to fetch 404 Not Found
because the repository only has files for Ubuntu 12.04. Is there any way I could get apt-get to download the package meant for 12.04 Precise?
