http://ubuntuforums.org – Hi i have a HP dv6-6c29wm laptop with ubuntu 12.04. I am able to connect to wifi and others around me but randomly it stops working, it will still show me connected to network but it just stops working and everything stops loading and then i refesh 10 or so times and it works again. This has been doing this since i installed ubuntu on this laptop, I tried so many methods to a point im ready to just go back to windows but i really dont want to. Can any one please help? i can provide any information or try anything to help solve this. Please help me, I really want to use ubuntu. (Hardware)

Hi, I'm new to Linux. My original OS is Windows 7. I installed Ubuntu via the Wubi installer, and everything seems to be working swell. The only thing I have a problem with so far is the wireless capability. When I connect to a wireless network, everything's fine for a while but then after around 5 minutes, it just stops working (but the icon still indicates that I'm connected and everything).

This happens often for my ubuntu 12.04.

I'm using ubuntu on my laptop and connect to internet via wifi.

Sometimes even though the connection is established with the modem I'm unable to connect to the internet.

at that times I'm also unable to connect to 192.168.1.1, which should give me the page to my modem even if there is no internet connection to the modem.

I have a Desktop which runs on Windows XP and a laptop which runs in Ubuntu 12.04. Recently I have set up a wireless router in order to be able to access internet on my laptop through wifi. The laptop connects to the wifi at ease, but is unable to transfer any data.

I've tried to install Ubuntu 12.04LTS parallel with Windows 8, on my laptop Clevo m767tu But when I try to boot from USB it just stops when it's trying to read the files.

I am running Ubuntu 11.10 x64 on a Toshiba M505-S4940 using a Realtek wifi card. After closing and reopening the laptop, wifi is disabled and will not turn back on until after a reboot.

I had just installed the 12.04 Ubuntu distro onto the laptop and connected to a wireless access point (note it is an apple AP). It worked fine. After running several days my distro did an update and afterwards the wireless seems to be working but it can neither find, nor connect back to the same access point.

I am a ubuntu newbie.I have a hp dm1 laptop with Ralink RT5390 wifi card. It has the ability to connect on wifi direct with my nexus 7 in windows while using latest drivers located at mediatek site. But i am unable to use wifi direct in ubuntu. I found wpa2_supplicant supports this and installed the same. but still wifi direct is not functioning.

I've got a serious problem with Ubuntu 11.10 running on a DELL Optiplex 990 Machine. Whatever I do, the system randomly stops. Imagine you are working on a shell and randomly you won't get a prompt. Or while typing the system stops and won't return to the prompt even if CTRL+C'ed.

I got the Hardware tested. Everythings fine.

It randomly stops working as I'm working off a laptop, I click the option "Auto Ethernet" but it won't connect to the network again, I have to restart my laptop and then everything works fine but the connection eventually drops. I think it was after some update that I did, I am using 11.10.
