Hi all,
I've got a serious problem with Ubuntu 11.10 running on a DELL Optiplex 990 Machine.
Whatever I do, the system randomly stops. Imagine you are working on a shell and randomly you
won't get a prompt. Or while typing the system stops and won't return to the prompt even if CTRL+C'ed.
I got the Hardware tested. Everythings fine.
So I installed Ubuntu server to run some tests on a VM. For various reasons I couldn't get a specific DEB file, and instead of using a shared folder I decided it would be a good idea to install ubuntu-desktop so I can run Firefox and grab the file directly from the web.
Hi, I have a strange problem with regards to the system time.
I am situated in Mumbai, India, which is +5.30 hours time zone (no daylight savings). I have windows xp installed on one hard drive and Ubuntu 12.10 installed on the other hard drive (installed each OS disconnecting the other hard drive; Use the boot menu using F12 to boot into each OS).
I am facing an issue. my programs in C for any reason has taking more time in some machines than in other, when i expect to be more fast because has more processors.
I have a two part problem which I can't really resolve with fixing the other first.
Part 1 is what I will hopefully get resolved here before getting part 2 resolved in another section (unless people are feeling extra supportive :) )
Issue:
I wanted to install Ubuntu 11.10 on my new PC. But LiveUSB hangs on boot (stops at line x initrd memory freed; if I press enter it writes some more lines and hangs again, this time completely).
Tried also LiveCD, Ubuntu 12.04 alpha, Fedora 15, Rescatux (Debian), noapic, nolapic, safe mode and everything won't boot.
Currently I'm forced to use Windows7.
