http://ubuntuforums.org – Hello ubuntu-community, i found some tutorials for installing the nessesery driver (compat-wireless). But it seems that this is not really working. Ok the situation is: I have a laptop with an internal wirelessPCI-card running with ath5k-driver. I downloaded compat-wireless-2012-12-18 and installed it (sudo make + sudo unmake) but in the best case nothing happens (after reboot) or both wirelesscard (internal and tl-wn821n) are not working (not shown with ifconfig or iwconfig). What do i need to do, to get both working? Thanks mirrowwinger (Hardware)

hi, I have Ubuntu 12.10, kernel 3.5.0-25 , and did all the updates. The wired connection is not working and for get it working I must install compat wireless drivers. I have done this once but I reinstalled Ubuntu and now it doesn't work anymore.

I have removed the realtek wifi driver and installed Compat-Wireless.

With Compat-Wireless I am using the rtlwifi driver.

Everything seems to load but how do I connect to a wireless network.

Also I am running a script that uses aircrack and hwne it runs it says no WIFI card detected.

I need to get the wireless working on this HP dv9005us, I ran lspci and it says the card is "Broadcom Corporation BCM4311 802.11b/g WLAN (rev 1)" and so far I've tried the method that says "Installing drivers for the BCM4311,4312,4321,4322 Cards" on this page and in hardware drivers it says

and at the end i type sudo modprobe "driver-name"... i tried inserting iwl3945,mac80211, and other drivers instead of driver -name but with no success...

when i do and iwconfig i see no listing of wlan0 anymore...
