http://ubuntuforums.org – All.. I'm not totally new to computers, linux etc etc so I have a good understanding of how things work. I used to have a qnap NAS with Piwigo, Zenphoto and a bunch of other apps. It all worked very well but I found that it was a little to slow (qnap TS212) a great little box but a little slow. (small memory, small CPU) So I had a spare laptop, installed Ubuntu, Piwigo, Zenphoto and my other apps from the NAS. The speed difference is amazing. Very happy. Love it..... With the NAS the above apps used to send email such as registration confirmation, notification of comments etc etc. The only (Hardware)

I have a Windows network at home and a QNAP NAS that serves all my files to a couple of PCs and laptops.

I'm having trouble with ESXi backup/restore performance.

My setup:

VMWare ESXi 5.0.0 on a HP ProLiant DL 360 G6, runnnig RAID 5 on a P410 SmartArray as SAS QNAP Nas (QNAP TS-809U-RP NAS 8 bays 4USB) Connected over Gigabit

I try to copy a 200 GB file from the NAS to the Datastore. Currently, it will take 10 hours, so the speed is about 5 MB/s.

Hi, Sorry if this has been asked before I did a search first.

I have been running Debian 6 on my QNAP TS-410 for about a year now with only a couple of issues. I would though much prefer to run Ubuntu as I do on other servers and workstations. Has anyone successfully ported Ubuntu to natively boot on a QNAP NAS.

Well, I might be a little late to the party, but I've discovered just how useful web apps have become. I used to use only native apps, but lately I've discovered how great web apps are, especially when it comes to syncing between Ubuntu, Windows, and Android.

I'm currently using Feedly, Google Docs/Drive/other services, Evernote Web, and a bunch of others.

I just received my 16Go S3 a few weeks ago, and I was very disapointed to see that we only have 11Go of free space, which is very small and even more for a 500€ device... I feel like Samsung just stole one third of my internal memory ...
