I just got a problem with software installation and software sources on my Ubuntu.
I cant use Application manager to install anything:
Could not download all repository indexes
The repository may no longer be available or could not be contacted...
As in the title. I tried to add a Repository, how do I remove it. It won't let me via the software-sources program.
MATE desktop is one of the Linux Mint project. It’s a fork of Gnome 2, provides classic gnome style user interface for people feel uncomfortable with Gnome 3 gome-shell desktop.

Hi,
I'm using ubuntu12.04.
I've created a local offline repository this way:
sudo mkdir -p /usr/local/mydebs
sudo cp /var/cache/apt/archives/*.deb /usr/local/mydebs
cd /usr/local/mydebs
dpkg-scanpackages .
Go to Ubuntu Software Center.
Edit > Software Sources
Change the server from the default value to some other value.
Click Close. You'd need to enter your password.
Run sudo apt-get update to check.
Enable the universe repo:
open the Software center.
Click on edit and then software sources to open the software sources window.
Whenever I run
sudo apt-get install AnySoftwareOrPackageName
It shows
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree
Reading state information...
I am updating my Tor on Ubuntu and it states:
Do not use the packages in Ubuntu's universe. You'll need to set up our package repository before you can fetch Tor.
It then states that I have to add this line to your /etc/apt/sources.list file:
deb http://deb.torproject.org/torproject.org <precise> main
I am uncertain how to add a line to /etc/apt/sources.list.

I currently have the KDE_KDE4_Factory_Desktop and KDE_KDE4_Community repos enabled as I wanted to go to KDE 4.4. I realize that at some point I'm going to go the KDE 4.4.1 Beta....it's working pretty good now, to stop the KDE upgrades, can I just 'unenable' both KDE repos? I don't want any breakage as I work from this machine.
Here are my enabled repos:
