Some days back, I added a network printer at my institute. While trying to print for the first time, the computer asked for authentication, then complained of low disk space.
I Installed 12.04 in July, worked with the office printer perfectly. tried to print today and it wont.
in the printer settings dialog it says:
Quote:
printing service not available.
Hi Everyone,I have a huge problem and I have problems to solve it :S...I've been used to install cups and hplip for my printer, then start cups (rc.d start cups) and go to the cups page at localhost, add printer.... But today, when I tried to print a file he fails saying ""/usr/lib/cups/filter/pstoraster failed"...
I had ubuntu 10 installed then I upgraded to 11 with no problem. And then I saw the upgrade to 12.04 button on update manager. During the upgrade it gave me countless errors but installation continued nevertheless.
One of the first things I did after I installed 13.04 was to remove modemmanager, because I don't use it. However, I noticed that during the boot process there was still a reference to this:
Stopping modem connection manager [ OK ]
By chance I went to /etc/init/, made a copy of modemmanager.conf, preserving permisions, time stamp, owner etc. and deleted the file from the init/ folder.
Hi all,I have a Canon MP600 printer/scanner connected via USB to a small print- and scan-server running Arch (last update was yesterday). The printer is shared over the network and can be accessed from a Windows 7 client. But from time to time after 1-2 prints the printer crashes. I that happens, only a power disconnect can bring it back.

Using the printer configuration tool, I can connect to the cups server. However, clicking on Settings leads to the following error:

Hi
I am running Ubuntu 11.10. I used the directions here to replace Unity with Gnome. It seemed to work fine until the end of step 2 when I rebooted the computer. When I chose the default option, I just got a black screen.
