i have one hard disk and two operating systems Ubuntu and Lubuntu.
I wanted to install Windows XP also but i had only two partitions.
I used GPARTED to resize partition with Lubuntu to get more space for new partition. After that i rebooted and wanted to install XP on new partition.
I just bought a acer aspire laptop. I wanted to install Ubuntu and dual boot with Windows 7. When i tried to do this, I accidentally deleted my windows partition altogether.
I got the recover disks from Acer, but when I tried to restore the partition, it told me it ran out of space.
Here's my partition table. I would like recommendations.
I just bought a new laptop that comes with Windows 7 preinstalled and I want to install Ubuntu alongside with it.
The system came with 5 partitions:

Unknown partition

NTFS partition (to be used for data)
A recovery partition
I had removed the NTFS data partition and shrinked the windows partition to make room for Ubuntu as it will be my m
Hi everyone
I have just reformatted my computer and I have installed my windows 7 using the factory recovery disks.
Hello,
As of now my box is set up in order to dual boot with GRUB (ubuntu and windows 7). I would like to add Windows 8 and also keep Windows 7, so I reduced Win7's partition and got some free space on my HD.
What's the easiest way to add windows 8 and get a triple boot setting?
I installed Ubuntu 12.04 on a single disc which already had Windows 7 x64 on it. Windows was on two primary partitions, a very large partition C: and a small 100 mb partition. I've been using this computer for the past year with no problems.
During the installation of Ubuntu, I made four partitions: 1) /boot, 2)/(root), 3)/home and 4) SWAP.
My laptop came with Windows preinstalled. I shrank the Windows partition and created a couple of new partitions to install Ubuntu in. I've noticed that reading my Ubuntu partitions is much noisier than reading the NTFS partiion.
After using virtual machines and wubi for the last few years I finally took the time to install ubuntu (12.04, LTS f*ck yeah) in a dual boot.
I read some tutorials, but they seemed all different and they all recommended to use the "something else" option in the installation process.
I want to know is there any possible (and simple) way to delete my Windows partitions and extend my Ubuntu partitions.
I have 1 HDD 700 GB:
sda1 primary 100MB NTFS (Windows boot partition)
sda2 primary 100GB NTFS (Windows 7 OS)
sda3 primary 500GB NTFS (Windows data files)
sda4 extended partition 98GB:
sda6 ext4 94GB (Ubuntu 12.04)
sda5 swap 4GB
My actual boot partition is sda1
