[ubuntu] Tray icons unactive/ wrong working

http://ubuntuforums.org – Hi, I have problem with tray icons on Ubuntu 11.04. 1. Application icons - sometimes are shadowed and inactive, e.g. when I click on skype, thunderbird icon - nothing happens. 2. Other icons - indicators are never in that state, but sometimes theirs menu don't expand. Icons looks clicked but I can't see menus. Hard to say if it is related to each other, but both cases happens when I have VirtualBox running and/or I have connected second screen via VGA. With indicators - menus usually expand on second screen even if not on first. Application icons are not visible on second screen. Could y (Hardware)

I have the same issue since (no exaggerating) years ago. I've several times tried to google the problem, and even posted in forums, but never got any results.Everything started with Skype: I realized that, when running skype in Xfce, the program menus had no icons, whereas in other desktops (same or different OS) the icons were there.

I have been fighting with checkgmail and pidgin, because after a while their tray icons disappear in unity. Also the black message boxes don't show up with pidgin (e.g. when someone writes a message to me), when the task tray icons are not visible. Weirdly enough, when I switch between workspaces, the icons are visible during the switching.

There are many articles online (and posts on AC) explaining how to change the default tray icons on the S2 and S3. However, these methods do not work for the S4 as the tray icons do not appear when you open the app drawer in edit mode (even when viewing as Customizable Grid).

Does anyone have any custom Dropbox system tray icons? It sits on my screen all the time, but it's the only thing on it that is in color, and that can be distracting. I'm hoping to tone it down with some grayscale icons.

How do you set the system tray icon for wifi, power, or audio applets? I'm using herbstluftwm, and lxappearance for setting my themes but the system tray icons don't reflect my other icons.

Home folder icons dont change 24 weeks 2 days ago

I just installed my-humanity icon theme on my Ubuntu 12.10 but i have an issue :

I extracted the archive to /usr/share/icons or/and to ~/.icons but when i apply the icon theme from gnome twek tool home folders icons dont update but stay to Ubuntu mono dark default icons.

When I choose icons for my desktop-files, I have the issue that a lot of them will not load in Tint2, especially the action-icons. What could cause this? Furthermore, when I look in /usr/share/icons there are a couple of Faenza-Crunchbang folders, but there seems to be very little inside the folders. Can I get these icons anywhere else?
