I recently installed the newest version of Ubuntu on my laptop after Windows decided to stop working properly. I use my laptop for recording music so it's important that I get my gear to work with linux.
I installed the program I use with Wine and I have a recording interface that is connected to my computer through a firewire expresscard.
I want a cheap, (therefore old and used) laptop TV tuner so I can plug a Playstation 2 into my Thinkpad W500 without needing an additional monitor. Currently running XP SP3 but toatlly can upgrade to Win 7 and probably will down the road.
Could someone help me get this device working in stereo on Ubuntu 12.10? I'm having, in a way, the reverse problem of many people in the forums. The output modes I have in the mixer has only surround sound modes (4.0, 5.0 and 5.1 speaker modes), no 2.0.
Is it possible to boot from an ExpressCard SSD? If so, what are the constraints?
I am interested in trying to set up my computer like I do for my servers which is install base OS is on a small read-centric drive like an internal USB and use the hard drives in a RAID array. Since my laptop does not have internal USB, I was thinking that an ExpressCard SSD would fit the bill.
I just installed Ubuntu 9.10 x64 on a ThinkPad SL410 2874-32U and am not seeing any wireless functionality. All of the information I've seen on this machine mentions 802.11b/g/n, but never lists a brand or model of the wireless adapter.
