So here's the deal: I've been playing with my Toshiba L775D-S7107 (Satellite L775) and I'm able to boot the Live system from a USB flash drive fine and dandy. Everything works. I just installed it to the hard drive and now there are problems. The boot screen doesn't show up, no biggie. Sometimes the login window shows up but the built-in keyboard & trackpad lock up.
Just created a separate partition to load Ubuntu 12.04 as a dual boot on a Toshiba Satellite L775. OS installed perfectly and is running flawlessly. The keyboard is not responding at login screen randomly. The virtual keyboard works and the mouse works but the keyboard is unresponsive. After rebooting a couple of times it is responsive again and works with no issues.
I have bought a Toshiba Laptop Satellite C665D-M5010. the details are here:
http://www.toshiba-india.com/laptop/satellite-c665-amd-viewmodel.html
I have installed Ubuntu 12.04 which freezes on login screen.
The system is dual-boot with Windows 7 on it. If i start Windows first and then restart to login in Ubuntu everything works fine.
I am not able to find out any solutions.
I installed ubuntu on my T500 laptop a couple of days ago and everything was working fine. Today I plugged a usb keyboard and mouse directly into 2 of the usb ports. I then powered up. Everything was fine during the boot process I used the usb keyboard to select the boot option first in the windows - ubuntu choice and then in grub to move between the options and select one.
I switched on my laptop this morning (HP Compaq nc6320) as usual and tried to log in, only to find that neither trackpad nor keyboard were working! If I reboot into a recovery mode shell, the keyboard works until I move on to normal boot. If I boot from an Ubuntu install disk (run from CD), both trackpad and keyboard work. Everything seemed OK last night when I shut down.
After reading an article recently (Guardian UK) comparing Windoze 7 with Ubuntu 9.10, I installed the latter on a desktop
which has now failed with hardware issues. However, I have a redundant Toshiba A100 laptop with XP installed and I was
hoping to put Ubuntu 9.10 on that and get myself up to speed with an alternative OS.
Hello,
i really hope this question hasn't been asked, i looked around and couldn't find the same problem. if so, please direct me to the thread that talks about it.
I have a toshiba satellite with windows 8 installed on it.
Hello all I have a Toshiba Satellite M505-S4940 and the touchpad works in Windows, but not in Ubuntu. Now I assume this is a driver issue and I have searched and have found a few things, but none of the solutions have worked for me. Any help please?
I just installed 12.04 on a brand new Toshiba Satellite C655. The system will boot both with and without the installation CD, but the keyboard freezes and I can't use the touchpad to get the arrow over to my password, nor can I type.
thanks,
