Hi all... New to the community and Ubuntu here. I've recently set up dual boot for Windows 7 and Ubuntu 12.04 (64bit) on my Toshiba Satellite L775D laptop. While almost everything is working fine I have 2 nagging issues I'm hoping someone can help with:
Issue 1: Somewhere around 50% of the time I boot into Ubuntu, the keyboard does not work at all.
Just created a separate partition to load Ubuntu 12.04 as a dual boot on a Toshiba Satellite L775. OS installed perfectly and is running flawlessly. The keyboard is not responding at login screen randomly. The virtual keyboard works and the mouse works but the keyboard is unresponsive. After rebooting a couple of times it is responsive again and works with no issues.
I have bought a Toshiba Laptop Satellite C665D-M5010. the details are here:

I have installed Ubuntu 12.04 which freezes on login screen.
The system is dual-boot with Windows 7 on it. If i start Windows first and then restart to login in Ubuntu everything works fine.
I am not able to find out any solutions.
Hello All,
My physical keyboard was misbehaving while I was trying to log in to my machine this AM so I thought I would turn on the 'Screen Keyboard" in the universal access settings from the little person icon at the login screen. Unfortunately this crashed the system with the "System cannot recover, contact a system administrator" screen.
Hi
This question is usually responded to with "Liveuser does not need a password".
Well believe it or not in some configuration it is not possible to go passed the login screen of Fedora 11 or 12 KDE.
If you just hit enter which should work, it goes black with a blue flasy thing and then back to the login screen.
It happens like 50% of my Suse 11.2 startups, when I type in my password at login screen and hit enter, Gnome do not start, i can only see the green blank screen,or sometimes it start to show only my custom wallpaper and nothing more, when i try ctrl+alt+backspacex2 and login again everything seems to work fine, but what could be wrong ? is it a hardware issue ?
I upgraded to 12.10 a few days ago. All was well, but looks like an interrupted updated caused problems.
When I boot the comp, I get random "" characters all over the screen. Then I get a few lines "KVM: Disabled by Bios". After that the screen goes black, and the keyboard no longer works. I never get any kind of login screen.
linux-3.3.1-1 made it to core about a day ago. Now I can get to the login screen without noefi and no patches. Still no keyboard functionality though. The strangest thing is that the keyboard works with the LiveCD (ArchBoot in EFI mode).
I am unable to get past the login screen. It won't accept passwords, the screen momentarily goes black, and then returns to the login screen.
I recently found out that you can use CTRL-ALT-F1 to switch from the login screen to the command line. My password works in that situation and I was able to enter terminal mode.
I typed in "startx" to see what would happen.
