Hey Ubuntu forums, here comes a active member to the community since I'm going to use Ubuntu as my main OS.
WELL my native hard drive failed, so I'm going to go buy a external USB hard drive from RadioShack sometime this week. I installed Ubuntu 10.04 on my usb flash drive last year and still have it.
Hi,
So, I want to install Ubuntu (Desktop) on my computer but there is something I need to make sure before I do that.
I'm currently running windows 7. It is installed on a 500GB hard drive.

Hi!
I just got a new desktop computer, and wanted to make it a dual boot.
I have been running Ubuntu for years on an old computer. But I am still a novice especially with the technical stuff.
Anyway...
The new computer came with a 2 TB hard drive with Windows 7 installed.
Trouble finding a hard drive to install Ubuntu 12.04 on.
As you can see, the 3.74 GB drive is the only one that is showing up. It seems that this is the USB that I am running Ubuntu from, and not an actual drive from the computer. Same thing happens when I try to install Ubuntu. The USB (with no free space) is the only drive that shows up.
I'm hoping this is an easy yes answer, but I wanted to make sure before I start.
I currently have a computer built with two internal hard drives, it's running ubuntu 11.10.
i just bought windows 7 (i know, you all hate me) and im trying to install it from my laptop running ubuntu 9.04 linux. when i get to the install stage i get the message "windows setup cannot find a location to install temporary files". i believe this is because my hard drive partition is not in NTFS format, therefore windows cannot attach its files to it.
My hard drive was NTFS and ubuntu *11.10* claimed it was read only, so i formatted on windows to Exfat and ubuntu cant mount it at all, how do i format it to make sure it works on linux? by the way im not a command line expert if your going to use that... so please dont question me with all of this....
Have an ion profile LP turntable. Seems the thing works ok, but I've worked on it, and on the Net, for many hours, with several Linux OS's & many software installs, trying to get this thing going, but have got failures only. This tt came with a Windows and Mac install CD, and instruction manual, but without any mention of Linux. Seems this tt might be for Windows and Mac only.
