http://ubuntuforums.org – i use gnome ubuntu 12.04 then i switch kde ubuntu and now my moniter is the system is running in low-graphic mode i try sudo vi /etc/lightdm/light.conf it 's blank before i change greeter-session=unity-greeter, chown lightdm:lightdm -R /var/lib/lightdm chown avahi-autoipd:avahi-autoipd -R /var/lib/avahi-autoipd chown colord:colord -R /var/lib/colord it's fail i install nvidia card http://ubuntuforums.org/showpost.php...&postcount=280 it't fail Could you help me please? Lightdm is displayed properly but after entering a password and clicking login, I see the screen blink and lightdm window re-appears and asks to log in as if nothing happened.

My machine crashed (powered down unexpectedly) recently with an 8GB thumb drive attached to it. When it came back up I was trying to delete a file in one of the folders, but it kept telling me that the filesystem on the device was read only. Googling lead me to the third post on this thread:

Is there any way I can use LightDM themed with the Unity greeter with a systemd-based init? The lightdm-unity-greeter package available in the AUR depends upon lightdm-ubuntu, which conflicts with lightdm. lightdm provides a systemd unit, but lightdm-ubuntu does not. Is there another way to have lightdm-ubuntu start on boot even though it doesn't have systemd support?P.S.

When I installed Lubuntu 12.04 (amd64) I had that infamous B43 firmware problem, but I was able to find a workaround.

This time, installing Lubuntu 12.10 (amd64) I wasn't able to find a solution for the B43 firmware problem.

Hi, looking for a workaround here. I have a hand-me-down laptop that has a somewhat fried system board.

An HP pavilion dv6000 w/ amd64, the manifestation of the hardware problem is the usb ports are unrecognized (in windoze or ubuntu). In ubuntu, the syslog shows a constant stream of messages like this:

I installed Ubuntu mini 12.10 and then I did apt-get install lxde-core lightdm-gtk-greeter.

I successfully changed the LightDM screen resolution editing the /etc/lightdm/lightdm.conf and adding display-setup-script=xrandr -s 1280x720.

How to add an image for the power and settings icons in the lightdm-gtk-greeter screen? Right now, it looks like this:

Hi, I'm running 9.10, and external usb drives are no longer being detected and mounted automatically. I can see the devices if I run Palimpsest disk utility, but the option to mount them is not available.
