I just installed Ubuntu 14.04 LTS and when i check the nvidia driver (proprietary, tested) on additional drivers, my system freezes very often (keyboard and mouse both freeze), but when nouveau driver is checked the system works just fine, no freeze at all. Any suggestions? solutions?
I have been tremendously frustrated by my mouse freezing randomly, this is often followed by a total system freeze.
It is a usb microsoft mouse. When the mouse freezes, the LED is still lit. If I unplug and replug in the mouse then it is completely dead (no light).
This freeze occurs completely randomly but most often shortly after the desktop loads at startup.
I use Ubuntu 14.04 on my Asus N550JK laptop and have NVidia GeForce GTX 850M graphics card.
The problem is that screen keeps randomly freezing while performing everyday tasks. When the screen freezes I can use keyboard to type and after I return from freeze the typed letters will be there. I mean, the system works but the screen won't refresh.
I have a Dell Inspiron 14 2530 with Ubuntu 12.04. Once in a while the system freezes completely (can't move mouse, keyboard won't work, no HD led blinking) for no apparent reason. Sometimes I haven't even started any programs.
Anybody got the same issue, or knows what could cause such freezes? Currently I'm dealing with it by hard rebooting the system, and hoping it won't happen again.
I'm getting the weirdest freezes on my system. Starts off fine, then after an hour, system locks up. Mouse still works, but nothing I click does anything. Keyboard doesn't work either, all I can do is move my mouse. Eventually goes to a grey screen, but mouse still works.
Restarting the system boots to BIOS, doesn't recognize my SSD.
I have a big trouble with Ubuntu 12.04.2 and 12.10.
After boot all works fine. But an uncertain time, my computer freezes. Only hard power off work.
I tried different kernels - have the same problem.
Memtest86+ says: no errors on RAM.
Maybe you, guys, have some idea how to fix it or why this happens?
Maybe someone have same laptop.
