[ubuntu] Suspend/Hibernate not working properly

http://ubuntuforums.org – Since switching to Karmic, suspend and hibernate are not working consistently on my Toshiba Satellite. I have it set to hibernate when I close the lid, but doing so only turns off the screen. The suspend and hibernate keys on my keyboard also no longer work. When I select these options from the menu, the computer will suspend or hibernate properly. Upon resuming, though, it will not ask for my password (which perhaps is a separate issue, but I'm not experienced in Ubuntu so I'm not sure if there's a setting I can change for that). More annoyingly, the screen will often either turn off during the resume and the laptop will go back into hibernation, or it will show the desktop for a few seconds and then hibernate. Thanks for your help. (Hardware)
