[ubuntu] Strange: In Ubuntu Network some Folders Missing in a Shared Folder on Windows

http://ubuntuforums.org – This is weird, a few days ago I had a folder on a Win98 machine that was shared over the network. This shared folder contained 4 Sub folders. I went to back them up today and only 2 of the 4 show on my Ubuntu machine. I thought... did I delete them off of the Win98 machine somehow? So I opened the folder on my wife's XP machine (also on the same network as the 98 box with the missing folders) and of course... all 4 folders in this shared folder show up. BUT... for the life of me I can't get them to show on my Ubuntu computer. Why can't I see all 4 (only two show up)? I haven't changed anythin (Hardware)

I have a Ubuntu 12.10 machine connected to a windows network where I can access a publicly shared folder. I can see most files and folders but, in what seems like a random selection, some are hidden. If I use the terminal to open nautilus directly to a folder I know exists it opens it without problem but the parent folder still doesn't show that folder. Can anyone help?

I've bought a new computer to my home and used the HomeGroup to connect to my older machine and Share some folders between the computers. That's all the changes I've made. Now on my old computer the site I have doesn't allow contents to be listed - insufficient priviligies. And the application pool identity is LocalService. By the way the website is in one of the shared folders.

Hi!I'm new here...I've installed Crunchbanglinux 9.04.01.i386I'm having a trouble with sharing folders to win7 machine...I've installed samba (I hope that I installed right version).. I can ping crancbangMachine ,but anything happens when I want to access shared folders...

Recently installed Debian and completely new to Linux. Samba package installed, and select the shared folder. On my Windows machine, I see the Linux box, but not a folder or drive over it. Shared folder on Linux with SMB (also tried NFS). The machine has Windows TCP / IP, IPX / SPX and NetBIOS protocols. When the Add Network window I can see the image, but not the folder / drive.

So we have some folders which are shared over the AD Domain (Windows Server 2003). It was just noticed that in 2 of those folders (which contain only Excel and Word files), whenever a file is opened and closed, the temp file which was opened corresponding to that file still remains.

I have three servers. I created a shared folder in server1 and made it available to all machines in LAN.

First off I can see my windows network through the ubuntu pc but I cannot see the shared files on the w/7 laptop on my Network. How do i set up the ubuntu machine to share folders? I get the shared folders option to become active but still get the "cant mount" message box.

I've got my music folder shared via the "sharing" tab in nautilus folder properties, and I have no trouble accessing it from another computer on my home network. What I want to do is to let my friends access this remotely. What's the easiest way to do this? I tried setting up an SSH server, and even managed to forward the ports, but it shares all my folders, and I only want to share one.
