[ubuntu] squid cache to reduce wireless modem usage

http://ubuntuforums.org – Hi All, I live in a rural area and all of our internet traffic courses through a wireless modem with a 5gig/month limit. The modem is plugged in to a cradlepoint router which serves up wifi as well as connecting our wired machines. I was wondering how it might be possible to set up a squid proxy cache to reduce the amount of data that is repeatedly downloaded when browsing. I have a inkling of how this might work if one of the wired machines served as a gateway, but is it possible with a router/modem combo serving a gateway? Thanks Allan (HowTos)
