I can't seem to successfully install ATI/AMD proprietary FGLRX graphics driver (post release updates).
Ubuntu 11.10
ATI All In Wonder video card
I have attached screen shots of System Info - Additional Drivers, and jockey.log
I've searched Google and Ubuntu forums but can't seem to find anything that applied to my problem.
Any help would be gratefully appreciated.
Cheers,
Bill Roberts
i just installed ubuntu day ago and im total newb in this system.
Fresh install of 12.04
01:05.0 VGA compatible controller: Advanced Micro Devices [AMD] nee ATI RS880 [Radeon HD 4200]
'Additional Drivers' shows ATI/AMD proprietary FGLRX graphics driver, and ATI/AMD proprietary FGLRX graphics driver (post-release updates) as not installed. ATI/AMD proprietary FGLRX graphics driver says it installs successfully when I try.
So, the advanced graphics on my install do not work correctly with my ATI Radeon graphics card because whenever I enable the restricted drivers, the whole operating system stops working. I have accepted this.
However, when I boot to an Ubuntu Live CD, the full graphics work fine.
In Ubuntu 12.10 (Quantal Quetzal), there is no additional drivers section in system settings, in fact, it has moved to a new tab in software sources.
I have installed Ubuntu 11.10 on my lenovo laptop and found a "chip" image on the top of the screen. It showed me to install 3 drivers
ATI/AMD Proprietary FGLRX graphics drivers (post-release updates)
Broadcom STA wireless drivers
ATI/AMD Proprietary FGLRX graphics drivers
When I installed 1st one, it showed me some error so, I installed 2nd one it was successful.
i been trying to set up my vizio hd tv as a monitor for my pc trough hdmi,
i get video not as good as it is on windows 7 but ok i can deal with that is not that bad.
my problem is that i get no audio, the sound stays in my laptop.
this is a list of things i done to try to fix this issue:
ran additional drivers app.
I have just installed a fresh copy of Ubuntu (12.04.1 LTS 64 bit). I formated my PC completely & enabled updates during the installation.
After the installation was complete, I went on updating my software.
this may be a little hard to explain because im not on my linux pc, but one of my ati drivers will not update. i only have one video card (ati sapphire hd 6670) in my additional drivers menu it has ATI/AMD Updates or something similar, and the other driver says the same thing ATI/AMD Updates (post-release) but it has "(post-release)" after it.
