i have an internal sound card that worked great on vista but i switched to ubuntu and now i have no sound because it a windows driver can i get sound back through the driver in my laptop.
Hello, I just installed ubuntu 9.10 last night, and I am trying to get sound to work, but it isn't working :(.
I've just installed 11.10 on my Thinkpad r61e. Everything works wonderfully except for the sound. I followed everything in the ubuntu help files, and searched the forums for similar problems and nothing worked.
Hi, I am new to ubuntu and linux. I have just installed ubuntu 11.04 on my lap top (a Itautec infoway n8610 ss) and it works perfectly... except for the sound. I can´t get any sound from my pc, it worked well with my windows vista but it is not working now. I tried to find the driver for the on-board soundcard to, maybe, replace it, but I can't even find it.
im unable to record sound using this app. the check box is checked for the sound, it just doesnt record sound. idk what to do.
i have ubuntu 12.04 64bit.
plus nvidia drivers dont work what so ever. so im just using the default ubuntu drivers.

I have had recurrent sound problems with my Dell Inspiron 1440 with Dual boot of Windows Vista and Ubuntu Jaunty.
I installed Ubuntu 12.04 LTS on my old laptop presario v3000 along with windows vista basic.
Everything worked fine till I tried to play some music. No sound came! I checked sound settings in Bash. Everything was okay. Also, sound card drivers are not available for Linux on HP website. Please help!
I had to reload my sound drivers because ubuntu had stopped recognizing my sound drivers and I got sound back except from banshee. I have played videos and those worked fine. Everything else seems to have sound. I checked the volume within banshee and it was all the way up. I tried upgrading banshee and it the highest upgrade. I tried downgrading banshee and same thing no sound.
I upgraded to the latest ubuntu version, karmic cola and every since I have had trouble with my sound. I have a Toshiba Tecra and my sound worked with the last version of ubuntu but every since I upgraded the sound has been glitchy. It started with just having trouble when I let it hibernate.
