Last time I tried downloading and installing updates to Ubuntu on my computer, the update failed randomly. I restarted the computer and tried running the updates again, and same error happened. I didn't have enough time to deal with it at the moment so I ignored it.
i had some problem with ubuntu software center so i uninstalled it then reinstalled
using following codes
sudo apt-get install software-center
i was getting the message as follows.......
Package software-center is not available, but is referred to by another package.
This may mean that the package is missing, has been obsoleted, or
is only available from another source
E: Package 'software-cent
I am running Ubuntu 12.04 dual boot on an Vista Dell Inspiron 1501 laptop. Everything was running smoothly until I tried to install Cheese through the Software Center. After the attempted installation of Cheese, the app would not load and any attempt to open Software Center to load would cause it to crash.
1) I can't install g++ in software center.
2) I can install other programs. For example, after I found g++ can't be installed, I installed chrome for test purpose through software center, and it worked!
3) g++ can be installed in the terminal via apt-get install. Only the software center way didn't work.
