[ubuntu] slowing internet connection

http://ubuntuforums.org – As soon as i start using the internet the speed is ok. afer a couple of minutes it startss slowing down. Initially the speed is more than 900k however its eventually slows down to 100k. i have to disconnect and reconnect to keep having the speed. My windows speed was more than 900k. i use wireless internet and the router is not faraway from laptop (HowTos)

I was using 11.04 natty ubuntu and using USB LAN E-100U network adapter to connect internet. It has started giving me very slow internet speed but window works fine with USB. I don't want to switch to window just for internet speed. Please suggest me the way to improve internet speed.

I have googled and found some tricks but still that does not help to get proper internet speed.

I use Ubuntu 11.10, and I connect internet via a ethernet card.

I have problem about very slow internet speeds. The manager at my work place tried to slow down the internet speed but when I use Windows with some download manager the internet speed is really good enough or when I test the speed of internet my results are good.

How can I do? Could you help me please?

Whenever I boot up my computer, speedtest.net shows an internet speed in excess of 20 Mbps. After around five minutes it consistently drops down to just over 1 Mbps and stays at that download speed. The upload speed remains unchanged at around 3 Mbps. I checked Glasnot just to check if my ISP was somehow throttling my internet but this doesn't seem to be the case.

Hello Did a fresh install of jaunty. I noticed the fan was unnoticeable at startup, but at random or once I begin to run any applications the fan begins to speed up to a medium-high speed without slowing, even after closing the apps. Its pretty noticeable

The system monitor says the cpu isnt running above 5% but the fan is still at full speed

I was pretty unsure where to put this question..

The situation is :

I am using internet dongle for internet connection and during downloading process it clearly shows the download speed varying from 50kbps to 170kbps

But, anything other then the dongle software like MOZILLA FIREFOX, CHROME, I.E, and everything else works at the speed of 5kbps to 15 kbps maximum.

Hi please excuse me i am completely new to Ubuntu/Linux and have had little/no experience in the past, although this is now hopefully all to change.

I installed Ubuntu on to my laptop yesterday at uni (as i am trying to learn CLI and a new os) using their wireless Internet connection and the intern speed was as quick as my windows7 speed.

Hi all I have a weird problem. My Internet connection just seems to die after a few minutesof operation. If I reboot the desktop, or the wireless router or even just disconnect and reconnect the wireless network it seems to reset and internet works again for a while.

I know this is not an Ubuntu problem as it also happened under Windows XP.

Slow network with e1000 7 weeks 12 hours ago

I've got a problem with my network speed. I sometimes have full download speed (i.e. 5 MB/s, which is about my max. internet dl-speed) and sometimes comparable slow speed (about 0.5 MB/s). This is affects both internet and home network!

When I got slow network speed it stays that way until I 'renew' the module for my PCI network card (sudo rmmod e1000 followed by sudo modprobe e1000).
