[ubuntu] Slow net access.

http://ubuntuforums.org – Unlike others on here who are having problems getting on the net, I am getting on the net fine. My problem is that as I use ubuntu over a period of time my net access gets slower and slower. It gets so bad that it forces me to boot back into Windows 7 where I do not have this issue at all, so it is not my wireless modem. Has anyone else had this problem and if so did you get a fix? I have two different wireless modems and both have exactly the same problems in ubuntu but not Windows 7. Thanks for any help. (HowTos)

I'm 3 years using Ubuntu as my default OS, but I notice that Ubuntu will becoming slower after some weeks of installation. All the Ubuntu versions I installed "Ubuntu 10.10, 11.04, 11.10 and 12.04" the boot looks slower. When I make a fresh install, it boots in just 17 seconds... after 2 mouths, this system take almost 1 minute to boot (Slower than Win7).

I have another problem about wireless access in Ubuntu 11.04.

After I installed the driver of the wireless card, everything went fine. The speed of downloading from internet can even reach 2 Mb/s.

But I don't know why it got very slow after one day, like 20 Kb/s:mad:.

I've just joined the dark side, moving over from Windows 7 to Ubuntu 12.04 (64bit) and I've found that the Internet speed is excessively slower then in Windows (dual booting) I've tried this with Ubuntu 32bit and 64 bit and still the same.

I am running Ubuntu 10.10 maverick netbook edition on my Dell Latitude D830. I am dual booting windows 7 and ubuntu and recently I bought a Cisco Linksys E2000 router. I set it up with a WPA/WPA2 mixed mode security and My friends are all able to connect to it with no problems. I've been running Ubuntu for a while now and i've never had wireless problems until now.

Hi, I upgraded Ubuntu to 12.04 and it subsequently disabled the wireless on windows 7. I have a dual boot set up on a lenovo G560 with a Broadcom 802.11 wireless card. The wireless works fine in ubuntu, but when I boot Windows 7 it won't connect.

I have recently installed Ubuntu 10.04 in one of my notebook's HD partitions. It all runs smoothly, except for wireless. For some reason, Ubuntu only finds my wireless connections after I boot into Windows and then restart. If I boot straight into Ubuntu, I always get the 'device not ready' or 'disconnected' message under 'Wireless networks'.

Hi, I am new to ubuntu and having problems getting connected to the internet. My internet works fine if I plug directly into the modem, but if I go through the router either using ethernet or wireless it doesn't work. I've been using Ubuntu since version 6. I'm a big fan.

I upgraded to Ubuntu 11.10 a while back. I did a clean install. Ever since then, my laptop's been generally slower. The GUI is generally laggy. I know you'll ask "Slow compared to what?" It's slow compared to Ubuntu 10.
