I have something weird here.
I installed skype-wrapper because the Skype default icon looks awful with the rest of the unity bar (and I like the integration), and uninstalled the sni-qt package to remove the normal Skype icon.
Now when I launch Skype (through skype-wrapper) there are two icons for Skype in the launcher: the top one is the skype-wrapper icon, with the unity quicklists and the mail count, etc.

Like a noob, i tried installing skype numerous ways, non of them worked. Today i notice there is skype on Ubuntu software centre, when i try install i get this error message:
The following packages have unmet dependencies:
skype: Depends: skype-bin but it is not going to be installed
How can i install skype ? what do i need to do?
Im a noob. sorry. D:
I see a number of feeds regarding Skype and Ubuntu 11.10 on the forum, however can't find the right answer.
I have a GE Webcam, and it worked plug and play. Other people can see and hear me, and I can see my own video.
If i try to download skype in my area the browser is redirected to skype.tom.com which has a modified version of skype.
When i download it through synaptic, i have to enable the 3rd party option.
In such a case when i install Skype through Synaptic do i get the original skype or its modified (tom) version ? How can i make out which version is installed on my system ?
