Hi all
I have an exe program that's based on java ---said to be cross platform enabled.
This exe program runs well on windows. I have tried numerous times to install it via wine on ubuntu--latest attempt being on 12.04 lts 64 bit, but it always returns an error 'Launch 4J--Can't find Java 1.5.0'.
I have a program for Windows that I'd like to get running under Wine. "ChairGun Pro". It is a ballistics program for air rifles and .22's, to calculate trajectories, etc.

It requires Java, and I was able to get the program running, sort of, by installing the Windows version of Java under Wine.
I have problem with program which uses InstallAnywhere installer on Ubuntu 12.04. When I start installation, following error occurs:
Extracting the installation resources from the installer archive... Configuring the installer for this system's environment... No Java virtual machine could be found from your PATH environment variable.
Hello,
I have a computer assisted safety training program that I am trying to get working in Lubuntu. It was originally built to be run on a mac or pc and I didnt build it so I dont have the code. It was made with macromedia projector and requires quicktime to run the embedded videos. I installed wine and proceeded to install quicktime with no problem.
Hello.
This my previous thread is related but this is a separate question.
I'm trying to launch a program through Wine, and the program originally requires DirectX, but Wine would emulate it through OpenGL.
Wine is an Open Source implementation of the Windows API on top of X and Unix.Think of Wine as a compatibility layer for running Windows programs. Wine does not require Microsoft Windows, as it is a completely free alternative implementation of the Windows API consisting of 100% non-Microsoft code,
I read the all of the information I could find on wine, and it wasn't very much (having issues with the search feature of the forum).
I understand that the idea behind it is to make it so that you can install windows programs, and have them run on ubuntu.
Hey all, my 12.04 install gets more and more stable every day I update it, and most of my annoying problems have disappeared.
I'm trying to install Wine, as I want to try and get SAPGui working under it (school gives me a Windows installer and an OS X program...nothing for linux).
I'm new to ubuntu, formally windows 8 disgusted and have switched my other computer over to ubuntu only. The only thing I want to run on wine is to download DB Weave (and possibly for netflix later). I'm very confused with the wine install choices.
