I am setting up Lion server so users on an Active Directory network can access webdav folders from iPads.
I have got this working fine when accessing a shared multi user folder.
I want users to also be able to access their own personal folders, with no one else being able to access the folder.
I can share the Users folder out to Active Directory groups but this will give each user access to oth
Hello!
I have a computer running ubuntu 10.04,and want share some folders on it.The operating system is on one hdd and i have other 2 hdd in RAID1.Everything looks and acts ok until I try to share a folder.
I can see all sharings, but I get access denied everytime I try to write logged in as user and not as root no matter the location of the folder (Raid or users home).
is this a good idea? to have them both share the same folder\user?
Or should I have two different users?
It will be far easier to have a single user for both, with same configurations, but I figure it's also dangerous.
your advice?
thanks.
I have a Windows SBS 2003 R2 server with a shared folder (S drive) on it for everyone. Our client PCs use XP Pro.
When on the shared folder, you see the size of the folder as 230 GB.
I have one user that only sees 1 GB when on shared folder, however.
I'm trying (without success) to get help with setting up User Home Folder\Directory permissions on server 2012. What I would like to know is what permission do I need so that each user can access his/her files etc but CANNOT view\access other users home folders.
I have already created folders on the server called "UserProfiles" and "UserData".
This question was asked before but was no answer.
so i'm trying to make a shared folder for other users, inside that folder i want a personal folder for every user.
I have given full control to everyone on the network, so i can do anything i want, i tried to remove the "Delete" permission but than i couldn't create a folder with a new, which would mean all my folders are called "New Folder".
Is there a way to fix this?
Is it possible to restore lost users after Active Directory unistallation ?
Hello all,
I created a "Shared Files" folder in /home and changed the security of this folder to allow rwx access by a group of users (2 users in group). I am trying to redirect their documents, pictures, and videos folder's on these users (/home/userprofile/documents) to point to a single location at (/home/Shared Files/documents) in order to consolidate the location of the files.
