Hello i have a script that i run that takes about a hour to finish and at the moment i have the script in cron job running
40 7-20 * * * /opt/inventory/run.sh -incremental >/dev/null
every hour but sometimes the file doesn't finish in a hour it takes a little over an hour like a hour 5 min sometimes its short sometimes its longer
I don't want to allow two instances of the script to be allowed
So, this may be answered because of what I'm observing, but I'm curious to see what other people think.
Normally, I get excellent (>12 hours) battery life on stock rom. I have it rooted, but I've done nothing else with it. However, over the past month or so during the week my battery would go from 100% to dead in less than 6 hours with almost 0 use whatsoever.

I have had my phone about a year now and I had it rooted, S-OFFed and running a custom ROM within an hour of getting it. It took me a while to notice since I never use WiFi but I have had several ROMs such as CM, ViperS, HyperMIUI, Elegancia and the only issue I have had is that no matter what I could never get WiFi to work for more than an hour.

Hi all,
I'm looking for advice to improve the terrible battery life on my HP DV4-1225dx. I'm running an up to date 11.10.
There are a few problems with it:
1) The battery only lasts about an hour on a full charge.
2) Any time I unplug it, ubuntu thinks it's about to run out of battery and hibernates (once it wake it back up, it doesn't complain for ~ an hour).
I'm fairly new to linux command line and shell scripts, so please bare with me.
I have 3 different jobs set up in crontab (call them jobA, jobB, jobC) that run at different intervals and start at different times during the day. For example, jobA runs once per hour at 5 mins past the hour, jobB runs every 30 mins at 9 and 39 mins past the hour, and jobC runs every 15 mins.
