[ubuntu] scanner suddenly not working after installing sane from git

http://ubuntuforums.org – Okay so I bought a Kodak all in one printer/scanner/copier and was able to get a driver for the printer to work, but not the scanner; so I kept my old hp 3-in-1 so I could scan and it was working great. Thing is I think when I tried installing sane from the git repository because it supposively would allow the Kodak scanner to work, now the hp scanner won't be detected. How do I get back to the sane I had before git? Just an apt-get purge and then apt-get install probably won't work, it will just install the same downloaded git version, I think. Or if this isn't because I installed the git (Hardware)

I have SANE and SANE-scanner installed in my Ubuntu 12.04 box. I have an Epson V500 flatbed scanner, tied by USB to my machine. On my network I also have an HP All-in-One that has scanner functionality. Both are detected by the computer as scanners. I want to always use the Epson scanner but can't find a way to tell SANE-scanner to use the (second listed) Epson scanner.

I have a problem regarding SANE. We have Canon MP500 multifunctional machine and I was able to configure printer corectly using CUPS, but scanner is not working.

I have installed sane-backends 1.0.23, and many other sane packages (one of them was enormous btw, - 120Mb) but sane-find-scanner doesn't find a thing.

I decided to try the 64 bit version of 12.04 I have gone through the driver install procedures that have worked for the 32 bit OS but can't seem to find the reason why Xsane and Simple scan don't see my scanner. The scanner is a Brother MFC3220C. sane-find-scanner seems to find the device:

kinda new to ubuntu been using it for a year. Running 11.10 In the past i've been able to solve my issues by searching the internet. But now I'm trying to install cannon pixma mx432 printer scanner. I got the printer working but I'm having a hard time with the scanner i get this message when i have sane find scanner

I have a Fujitsu ScanSnap S1300i. I compiled SANE from source. When I run sane-find-scanner, the following output is given:

sane-find-scanner will now attempt to detect your scanner. If the result is different from what you expected, first make sure your scanner is powered up and properly connected to your computer. No SCSI scanners found.

Scanner and Printer install 3 years 24 weeks ago

Hi, I have Fedora 12 installed on my computer and I'm trying to set up a printer and a scanner for my personal use. The printer is a Canon LBP 3200 and the scanner a Mustek 1200 UB Plus. Both are connected via USB. For the printer i managed to install a driver, but it will still not print. It only ejects blank pages. For the scanner i tried sane, but to no avail.

I've used Brother MFC-8860DN as a networked printer and scanner for at least two years now, but cannot scan any longer.

I've upgraded to 12.10 a few weeks back and am not sure if that is the cause of the problem.

sane-find-scanner finds no scanner

brscan-skey -l finds

MFC-8860 : brother2:net1;dev0 : 192.168.1.50 Active

not sure what to try next

I'm having fun with an old printer and scanner. Whatever the problem is, it seems to manifest itself differently every time. Unfortunately I need to ask for help with the diagnosis as I am unfamiliar with linux.
