This is my second day with ubuntu on a dell mini 10v with broadcom wireless card. I hooked up to a wired connection and ubuntu installed the drivers for the broadcom card.When I put the cursor over the wireless icon on the desktop it shows the name of my wireless connection,active,and my ip address but when I open firefox I get a "server not found".

I can get a wired connection no problem.
I've gone throught the settings in Network connections using manual and automatic options.

Hi I just deleted my windows XP and installed Ubuntu 9.10 earlier this morning. I used wired connection to get drivers for my wireless network card.
When I did lspci, the very last line states:

just got karmic installed on my "new" laptop.
seems like the broadcom wireless card is not being recognized.
i found the following instructions on another (closed) thread.
1) Open Synaptic Pacakage Manager
2) Ensure 9.10 LiveCd is in CD drive
3) Settings > Repositories > Ubuntu Software
I'm relatively new to Linux. My netbook ran updates yesterday for Ubuntu and now I am unable to reconnect to wireless network connection. I am using WPA2 encrypted security. I am able to connect via wired LAN.

Hi, I've recently installed Ubuntu 12.04 on my Dell inspiron N4010.
My wireless connection is totally erratic. Initially, I was able to connect to my Wireless network, but after subsequent reboots, I was unable to access my Wireless network.
Wireless network shows as disconnected.
