[ubuntu] Sans-serif versus Arial

http://ubuntuforums.org – Most computers are able to read Arial and Helvetica fonts. In Thunderbird, you can set your outgoing emails to display Arial/Helvetica (as s single setting). My guess is so that Macs can read your email with a font similar to Arial. What happens, however, if an Ubuntu (Linux) user receives that email, but doesn't have the ttf-MScorefonts installed? What font would that email default to? I realised, earlier, that installing such fonts, in Ubuntu, is optional. Which has made me curious. (Hardware)
