Hey all,
I had my PC set up nice and then i used computer janitor to remove things. I forgot to tell it not to mess with my settings so i have had to redo everything.
I have samba installed and it can see my PC over network but it asks for username and password.
We got a new computer with Windows 7 today as the main computer for our home network. However, I'm having troubles printing to the printer from my Ubuntu 10.10 computer.
I can see the printer, but when I try to add it, it asks for a password. There are no users on the Windows 7 computer with a password.
Hi everyone. I am sorta a noob with Linux.
I have 3 computers. One running windows XP pro SP3. One running Windows 7 Ultimate and one running OpenSuse 11.2.
I used to have suse 11.1 and samba worked perfectly fine.
Both the windows 7 and XP boxes can browse each other on the network perfectly with no problems.
I have 12.04 and have 2 printers installed, both wirelessly over my personal network, no printer sharing. When I try to modify the printers I get a window asking for authentication (username and password). For the life of me I cannot think what these might be. At first I thought it might be my Ubuntu account username and password, but I can't get it to work.
Like many people it seems, I'm having trouble connecting to a Samba share on a machine running Lucid, in my case from a Windows 7 machine. I've tried all of the usual suggestions I can find. I can see the share from my windows machine, and when I try to connect to it, I get a Windows prompt "Enter network password".
I have Windows7 on one machine. Ubuntu 12.10 on another. I have a printer connected to the Windows7 machine. Basic network home lan setup. The brother printer works fine on windows 7. I setup "share printer" on the windows7 machine.
I can see the workgroup of Windows Network from Ubuntu, but when i put the username and password of Windows 7 from Ubuntu it doesn't get any access to the shared folders. I don't know where the problem is for not getting the username and password accepted or authorization.
I even tried turning off the password requirement in Windows 7, but no luck.
