hi guys i had one question. me currently dual booting vista and ubuntu, i just hate vista.
I installed ubuntu using Wubi on my laptop. It has windows vista home premium. After i installed ubuntu and started using it gave me a pop saying that my hard drive is probably failing. I dont know why this is. Can some one help me? Is it possibly just because i installed ubuntu on the same drive as vista and it cant access vista files? It said something about my boot sectors.
I have a dual boot system Vista and Ubuntu.
Hi,
I am assuming that if I try to install Ubuntu I will have the option of replacing the Vista system, or installing Ubuntu alongside Vista.
A question.
To install Ubuntu alongside Vista must vista be a working OS?
At present, Vista does not work on my machine, but at a later date, I may try to get it working
Thanks.

Hi
I'm having a problem getting grub to detect my XP partition.
Original configuration:-
Hard drive partitioned with primary partitions (Vista and Vista restore) and an extended partition for data
did not want anything to do with Vista so
I Installed XP in extended partition
Vista boot manager offered Vista or XP
All worked for years
Decided to remove Vista and dual boot with Ubuntu
I had a dual boot XP Pro/Vista machine. I had to have Vista for work, now I don't. Now I want to install Ubuntu. I removed Vista and get a boot.ini error. I am working on getting rid of that, but after installing Ubuntu, it does not even show up as a boot option. I can see the install files on the HDD, however I am not even able to see any type of boot option in EBCD. Any Ideas?
In my laptop I had Windows Vista. When Windows 8 Release Preview came, I installed it as dual boot. Now, I want to uninstall Win8 RP and install Ubuntu in its partition. I still want to keep Vista in its own partition. How can I do it? I have Vista and Win8 RP in separate partitions, and after Ubuntu installation, I want to have just Vista and Ubuntu in my boot menu. Please help
Hi all,
I recently installed Precise next to my Vista. Now when I try to boot into Vista it attempts to load and then the bsod flashes and goes back to the grub loader. I then tried to boot into Precise and the boot just started to hang for a couple of minutes. It eventually gave me a screen notifying me that it could not locate /tmp.
I have virtually no experience with Ubuntu!
A customer has asked me to recover his data (created in Ubuntu). This on a Toshiba laptop with Win Vista dual boot. Whenever the option to boot to Ubuntu is taken then it hangs at "initranfs" and goes no further.
